The State Duma adopted in the third and final reading a law introducing clarifications in the migration registration of foreign citizens and stateless persons.

The project was developed by the government in pursuance of the decision of the Constitutional Court of Russian Federation and is aimed to eliminate the shortcomings of legal regulation.
In this legislative act places of stay are fixed, at the address of which the foreign citizen can be registered.
The place of stay is considered to be:
- the place in which the foreigner lives\place of actual accommodation.
- the address of the organization in which he works or performs other activities not prohibited by law.
With a literal read of this legislation, the employer is completely excluded from the process of migration registration, if the foreigner does not actually use the office space for sleep and rest.
We are waiting for official comments on the enforcement of these amendments if they are adopted by the Federation Council and the President of Russian Federation.
Please note that changes might be possible when considered by the Federation Council.
